EVERYONE says Rep McHenry - current Speaker Pro Tempore - can't do business of the House nor bring up legislation...

Um... People illiterate? Stupid? Lazy?

It took literally:

• Less than 45 SECONDS to find 118th Congressional Rules.
• Less than 3 SECONDS to find the word "Speaker" in the in table of Contents.
• Less than 15 SECONDS to find the section talking about Speaker Pro Tempore.
• Less than 1 MINUTE to read the entire section.
• Less than 5 SECONDS to go back to the section referring to Speaker Pro Tempore's abilities.

It took LONGER to WRITE...THIS...POST...than it did finding this information.

Under 118 Congressional Rules
Rule 1 - Sec 8(3)(B) - second sentence:

"Pending such election the member acting as Speaker Pro Tempore may exercise such authorities of the Office of Speaker as may be necessary & appropriate to that end."

UM.... "AUTHORITIES of the OFFICE OF SPEAKER"... means ANYTHING McCarthy could do as House Speaker, McHenry CAN DO.

NOWHERE in the 118th House Rules are there ANY limitations of Speaker Pro Tempore...

...PROVE ME OTHERWISE.
